Who the Author Is

Margret K. Amatayakul has more than 40 years of expertise in national and international hospital information management . She holds the following degrees : MBA , RHIA , CHPS , CPHIT , CPEHR and FHIMSS . She has vast experience in EHR selection , project management and optimization for meaningful use and is a leading expert on electronic health record (EHR) initiatives for healthcare companies .

Amatayakul established her own consulting business , MargretA Consulting , LLC , in 1999 after working as the director of medical record services at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary , associate professor at the University of Illinois at the Medical Center , associate executive director of the American Health Information Management Association and executive director of the Computer-based Patient Record Institute . She offers freelance writing , educational programming and technical consulting for health information systems to the healthcare sector .
